Marty Stover Woodworker

After working in family owned business for most of his life, Marty Stover retired in 1999 and took up woodworking as a hobby. It soon became obvious that this part time hobby was developing into a consuming full time endeavor. After several years of extensive reading and research into practically all phases of woodworking, including wood turning, and cabinetry, Marty found the most challenge and enjoyment in designing and making handcrafted furniture and home décor items such as wooden cutting boards and serving boards. He has particularly liked to work with native woods such as Walnut, Cherry, and Maple. His works include intricate handcrafted jewelry boxes with construction features such as Double, Double Box Joints, Dovetail Joints, and contrasting inlays. Recently, he has been developing an individual style in his tables, chests, and other handmade wood furniture that is very close to the Shaker style but with more ornamentation and flair. The clean practical lines of the Shaker style furniture will go well in any room, and the small contrasting inlays add a personal, one of a kind, touch to his furniture. Marty’s work is sold on special order. His work may also be seen and purchased in the Juried section of the John C. Campbell Folk School Fall Festival
