Bill Jefferson Wood Turner

A navy man and a graduate of Southern Tech with a degree in building construction, Bill has always had a fascination for wood. During his career he worked for many years for an architectural firm in Atlanta. He built Houses in Highlands, and built his retirement home in the mountains of Blue Ridge Georgia settling there in May of 1997.
Bill will tell you that, "Building has been a passion for me most of my life, from forts as a child to houses as an adult. "
After retiring to Blue Ridge, Bill was able to spend more time working with wood and took the Windsor chairs class at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, North Carolina.
Working with the lathe while crafting the chairs, Bill discovered his
interest in woodturning. Since then he has studied under many well known
wood artist such as Cliff Lounsbury, David Nittman, and Lissie Oland. He
continues his study of wood by attending many of the regional woodturning
symposiums which have been invaluable in learning the art of woodturning.
He has displayed his works at Arts in the Park in Blue Ridge and the Perry
Fair. Anyone who wants to look at his turnings are welcome to visit his home
in Cherry Log, Ga just outside of Blue Ridge.
