Mixed media or "inter-media" is a unique combination of different artistic materials and techniques to create two or three-dimensional works of art. It is the perfect mixture of visually stimulating elements that create an eclectic work of art.
For example, a sculptor may combine wood and metal, or woods, metals, and glass to create a one of a kind piece. The term mixed media however, is generally used to describe pieces that contain collage inspired works, which may include oils, watercolors, chalks, charcoals, and photographs. When used in printmaking, mixed media is better known as "composite" art, which combines two or more printmaking processes to achieve the desired result.
While mixed media artwork can be used as an accessory in any design plan,
it is most often used in eclectic and contemporary spaces.
