Penny Johnson is an award-winning watercolorist who has made the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina her home and inspiration since 1996. As an artist she captures the essence of her subject and expresses it using the dramatic flow of transparent watercolors. Her fascination with light and shadow and the mood it creates has encouraged her to capture that feeling in her paintings.

The term "starving artist" although not literal is characteristic of many our local artist, whom would much rather practice their craft than look for ways to showcase their talents.
